How to advertise your small business online in Sri Lanka

You do not need a big budget. You need a clear offer, the right place, and a way to see what worked.

1. Start with one offer, not your whole business

People decide in a second or two. An ad that says “We sell tyres” loses to one that says “Weekend sale: 20% off all tyres”. Pick one offer, one price or one benefit, and make the click lead to a page that is about exactly that.

2. Advertise where people are already looking for answers

The best moment to reach someone is when they are doing something related to your business. Someone checking a vehicle tax figure is thinking about vehicles. Someone using a salary tool is thinking about work and money. That is why ads next to useful tools tend to work better than ads people scroll past in a feed. On induwara.lk the people are in Sri Lanka and they arrive with a task.

3. Set a budget you can afford to learn from

Start small. A first campaign of Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for 7 to 14 days is enough to learn how many people see your ad and how many click. Look at the price list: you pay per 1,000 views, so you can work out in advance roughly how many people you will reach. Prepaid campaigns cannot overspend, so there is no surprise bill.

4. Write an ad that gets clicks

  • Put the offer in the first four words.
  • Use a clear button: “See prices”, “Book now”, “Get a quote”.
  • Use big, plain text. Your ad is small, and most visitors are on a phone.
  • Show your logo so people know who you are.
  • Do not use fake urgency or promise results you cannot prove. Reviewers reject it and people notice.

5. Send clicks to the right page

A click that lands on your home page makes the visitor search for what the ad promised. Send them to a page that matches the ad, loads fast on a phone, and has one clear next step: a phone number to call, a WhatsApp link or a form.

6. Pick the hours that suit you

Daytime is the busiest on our site, and evenings lean towards phones. A shop that opens at 9 am may want daytime; a food delivery service may prefer evenings. Our live audience page shows the daily shape.

7. Measure, then change one thing

After a week, look at views, clicks and click rate in the console. If few people click, change the headline or the picture, not everything at once. If many click but nobody buys, the problem is the landing page, not the ad. Run the better version again.
